During my third break of the day, at 9 am, I went outside on the stern because I saw it was snowing. I don’t usually go outside during work because the factory is so cold. I try to warm up inside during breaks. But I am glad I did.
The sun was just beginning to come up and it cast a pink glow over the snow-covered mountain tops. Big, fluffy snowflakes fell slowly over the seawater, speckled with black-and-white gulls that floated and flew across the calm blue.
I breathed in deep and said to myself, “This is why I come to Alaska.”
